Hi! I’m Chris
Nice to e-meet you!
I hit the road back in 2009 and haven’t looked back! 6 continents and over 40 countries later I’m still bouncing around the globe – road tripping in Australia to surfing in Indonesia, I’m always game for adventure so welcome along for the ride!
And your in safe hands too – with over 10 years continuous travel I’ve learnt a lot on the road and shared heaps of it on the blog – I’ve even won the UK Blog Awards Travel category!

Over the last 10 years I’ve embraced a whole heap of travel chaos – from Full Moon Parties in Thailand and living the van life on the East Coast of Australia to surfing along the coast of South Africa and sailing around the Galapagos Islands.
It has been a pretty incredible ride and I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon!

FAQs About My Life On The Road
I get lots of emails about my lifestyle and adventures and do my best to reply to them all – but here are some answers to the most popular questions;
How Do You Afford To Travel?
I actually juggle a few different ways of making more on the road.
Through the blog I sell advertising space and also work with companies as a brand ambassador, videography wise I work with a range of companies and tourism boards to produce videos on the road and also stop off to surf coach from time to time.
I also setup and run online travel agencies Stoked Surf Adventures – specialising in surf travel – and RTW Backpackers – which specialises in East Coast Australia and New Zealand (amongst other destinations!)

What Camera(s) Do You Use?
In recent years I’ve done a bit of an upgrade camera gear wise and I’m now shooting with the Sony A7IV (+ a range of lenses), GoPro Hero 10, DJI Pocket 2 Creator Combo and the DJI Mavic Mini 2.
Don’t let gear hold you back though, I’ve produced heaps of photo and video work using my Sony A6300 camera or even my iPhone!

What Is Your Favourite Country?
Hmmmm this is always a tough one! At the moment I’m torn between Australia, The Philippines and New Zealand – they’re all awesome to travel! Although I have to admit I do spend a large amount of time surfing in Bali too!
Where Is Your Favourite Place?
Byron Bay in Australia has long been my favourite place on the planet. This little hippy surf town is full of good waves, good vibes and good people! I find myself back there again and again – although these days it’s more due to the fact my brother lives there and I have heaps of friends there as well.
Where Do You Live?
I actually don’t really live anywhere anymore! I still have stuff stored at my parents place in the UK and also a heap of stuff at my little brothers house in Australia and some boards and clothes at a mates place in Bali…in fact I have stuff strewn all over the globe!
Which Travel Insurance Do You Use?
I’ve been using World Nomads Travel Insurance for the last 5 years now as they allow you to start cover whilst you’re outside your country of residence and cover heaps of activities. It’s easily extendable too which is handy!
Is It Safe Travelling Alone?
I’m now travelling with my girlfriend Charlie – who also writes on the site – but before that I travelled solo a lot. It’s not as scary as you might think and it’s super easy to meet new travel buddies wherever you are in the world. Check out this post for some of the most common myths of solo travel.
